These people are in dire need” said Mel Boutilier, Executive Director of Parker Street. “, Their power is about to be shut off or they have prescriptions to be filled, they are out of heating oil – these are people who need help right now – they can’t wait.” Director of Development and Communications for Parker Street, Thomas Gouthro reports that, “3 oil tanks will serve as big piggy banks and will be part of displays at the three shopping malls for the month. Local branches of Scotiabank will also have countertop donation displays to support the fundraiser. October 30, 2009 A Night For Parker Street
June 2008, Opening of the Second Store! There's another "Great Things in Store" that opened not too long ago. The first one is located on the Almond Street, while the other is located in Dartmouth, on 95 Caledonia Street. :D Many people joined Melvin as they all celebrated the success, with Thelma cutting the cake, and the traditional red ribbon cut. You're more than welcome to stop by any of the two stores for some shopping. The new one is built quite like the first one, but more reliable for the Dartmouth customers. Look out for more. It's about to become an international chain. :D Great Things In Store In a continuing effort to support their many Halifax Regional Municipality community based activities, Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank has opened a new retail store “Great Things in Store”. Great Things In Store offers a wide range of new and used merchandise including clothing, antiques, small household appliances and furniture. “You never know what new things we’ll have in stock from day to day”, said Mel Boutilier, Executive Director of the Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank. “Our objective is to offer a wide range of items in the moderate price range – good quality at prices people can afford. We’re very pleased with our selection of reasonably priced antiques and household items. As our name implies, we’ll have great things in store!” Great Things In Store is located at 6110 Almon Street in Halifax, across from the Post Office.
